I grew up in a Christian family and have attended church my entire
life. When I was 7 years old I walked the aisle of a Baptist church and
accepted Christ as my Savior. Soon after that I was baptized. I attended Chaffey High School in Ontario where I met my high school
sweetheart, Miriam, in band. We got married when I was 20 and she was
21. Miriam and I and our two kids started attending LBF when it was
located at Sweeten Hall in Rancho Cucamonga in 1976. In 1980 LBF asked
me to join the church staff as the Business Administrator, which I
started in 1981. With my love for music (and already serving as one of
the volunteer worship leaders) in 1987 I was asked to also become the
worship pastor. After joining the staff I developed a strong desire to
attend seminary and in 2003, I graduated with a Master of Divinity from
the Haggard School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. Miriam and I have been married now for 35 years and have 5 grown
children, four of which are married. I now have 5 grandchildren (with
one more due in July) who call me “Papa,” which I just love to hear![back to top] [back to About LBF]

Craig Richardson
I’m a native of L.A. who was raised in an upper middle class
African-American community of Winsor Hills. I competed at Westchester
H.S. for the top spot on the tennis team, which finished 3rd in the
city. Two years later I was a NJCAA All-American as part of the number
one Junior College in the country. I was half of the 1# amatuer doubles
team in the country in 1978. I also played tennis for the University of
Colorado, from which I eventually graduated. I played professional
tennis on the men’s satellite tour during most of 1983. The following
year I became a part of the computer software industry, doing
applications programming for the now defunk First Interstate Bank. I
currently work for PayPoint, which is a First Data Corp. company. I
became a Christian during the spring of 1983 under the ministry of Dr.
Billy Ingram. I met and married the love of my life, Phyllis Stephens,
in April of 1984. Phyllis and I moved to Rancho Cucamonga during the
winter of 1987 where we soon became members of Calvary Chapel in Rancho
Cucamonga. We gave birth to our first child, Krista, during the spring
of that year. Our second daugther, Candace, arrived a short 17 months
later. At the encouragement of Craig Hawkins, I started attending
graduate classes in Christian Apologetics at Simon Greenleaf. Phyllis
and I took a very active roll in Pro-Life causes inside and outside the
church. Our third child, Ryan, was born in 1994. Sometime during the
year 2000, we found LBF and decided to make it our church home.

Frank Fabela
Frank Fabela lives with his family in Upland. He and his wife, Kathy, have been married for over 27 years. They have three daughters and a son-in-law. Frank has worked as an engineering executive for manufacturers of automated machinery, which has taken him around the world on business. In the past, he had his own business doing engineering consulting. He currently teaches Business Ethics for the University of La Verne. He also chairs the Elder Board. He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and the Drucker Graduate School of Management in Claremont. Some of Frank's interests are Management and Leadership, especially the application of Christian principles. Another interest sure to get him talking is formula 1 auto racing. One of Frank's hobbies is working on sports cars. Partly out of enthusiastic interest and partly out of financial need, he has developed a skill at automotive repair. A little-known fact is that he has a hydraulic car lift at home, anchored down on his wife's patio no less ("decorating the garden!"). Both Frank and Kathy accepted Jesus as their Savior during their engagement in 1982. Frank enjoys ministry working with high school students and going on mission trips to Mexico with them. His favorite Bible topic is freedom in Christ, from Galatians 5:1: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."[back to top] [back to About LBF]
