Gary Keith:
Pastor of Teaching & Worship; Elder
I grew up in a Christian family and have attended church my entire
life. When I was 7 years old I walked the aisle of a Baptist church and
accepted Christ as my Savior. Soon after that I was baptized. I attended Chaffey High School in Ontario where I met my high school
sweetheart, Miriam, in band. We got married when I was 20 and she was
21. Miriam and I and our two kids started attending LBF when it was
located at Sweeten Hall in Rancho Cucamonga in 1976. In 1980 LBF asked
me to join the church staff as the Business Administrator, which I
started in 1981. With my love for music (and already serving as one of
the volunteer worship leaders) in 1987 I was asked to also become the
worship pastor. After joining the staff I developed a strong desire to
attend seminary and in 2003, I graduated with a Master of Divinity from
the Haggard School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. Miriam and I have been married now for 35 years and have 5 grown
children, four of which are married. I now have 5 grandchildren (with
one more due in July) who call me “Papa,” which I just love to hear![back to top] [back to About LBF]
Pastor of Family Life Ministries
About Your Family:
Bob has traced one side
of my family to John Alden and Priscilla Mullens, part of the original
passengers on the Mayflower. They married after arriving in Plymouth
and proceeded to give birth to Elizabeth Alden, the first baby born in
Plymouth. I am a descendant of Elizabeth and now a member of the
Mayflower Society.
Bob and I met while attending La Verne College (now University of La Verne). After college, we married and had two sons. Both sons are married and they each have three children. We are the proud grandparents of four grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

I am thankful for this church family and the privilege of being a part
of it for so many years. It has been amazing to see the hand of God at
work through all the years as He has shown His will and His plan
through the good and bad times. He has a future and a hope for this,
His church family.
Pastor of Counseling; Elder
Bob Myers grew up in a Methodist Church and prayed to receive Christ at the age of 11. He served various roles in the church, such as District President of Long Beach District Methodist Youth Fellowship, Citizenship Chairman of Southern California/Arizona Methodist Youth Fellowship, and as a member of the church board. Bob graduated in 1962 from La Verne College with a Bachelor’s in history, and went on to receive an M.A. from Cal State L.A. in education and an M.A. from Phillips Graduate Institute/California Family Study Center in Marriage and Family Therapy. For 16 years Bob taught at an elementary school. He was elected onto the Elder Board in 1975 and joined the staff here at LBF in 1979 when he served as the Pastor of Children’s Ministries. In his current role, he serves as the Pastor of Counseling and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Bob and Edna were married in 1962 and have two sons and six grandchildren. Some of Bob’s hobbies include operating electric trains, collecting antique hand tools and cast iron toys, and solving Sudoku puzzles. Bob and Edna spend a lot of time putting together both of their family histories for future generations.[back to top] [back to About LBF]

I’m a native of L.A. who was raised in an upper middle class
African-American community of Winsor Hills. I competed at Westchester
H.S. for the top spot on the tennis team, which finished 3rd in the
city. Two years later I was a NJCAA All-American as part of the number
one Junior College in the country. I was half of the 1# amatuer doubles
team in the country in 1978. I also played tennis for the University of
Colorado, from which I eventually graduated. I played professional
tennis on the men’s satellite tour during most of 1983. The following
year I became a part of the computer software industry, doing
applications programming for the now defunk First Interstate Bank. I
currently work for PayPoint, which is a First Data Corp. company. I
became a Christian during the spring of 1983 under the ministry of Dr.
Billy Ingram. I met and married the love of my life, Phyllis Stephens,
in April of 1984. Phyllis and I moved to Rancho Cucamonga during the
winter of 1987 where we soon became members of Calvary Chapel in Rancho
Cucamonga. We gave birth to our first child, Krista, during the spring
of that year. Our second daugther, Candace, arrived a short 17 months
later. At the encouragement of Craig Hawkins, I started attending
graduate classes in Christian Apologetics at Simon Greenleaf. Phyllis
and I took a very active roll in Pro-Life causes inside and outside the
church. Our third child, Ryan, was born in 1994. Sometime during the
year 2000, we found LBF and decided to make it our church home.

Born in Upland in 1947, and raised in Pomona, Larry graduated from Ganesha High School in 1965 (with Mike & Patricia Cloud). He is one of those rare native Californians, who has always lived in this area, between Pomona, Montclair, and Rancho Cucamonga. Larry is a veteran of the Vietnam War (1968-1969) in the U.S. Army Infantry. Following his service, Larry married Lydia in 1969. With 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren, they have beenhappily married for 37 years now. Larry works for the Motorola Biometrics Division in Program Management, located in Anaheim. His division builds automated finger-printing equipment that takes an electronic picture of finger prints, that can then be matched electronically on a database (also referred to AFIS, as seen on CSI). Over the years, Larry has been involved in many ministries. He has been in Sunday School as a teacher and superintendent; was involved with Christian Service Brigade; was Summer Christian camp manager and executive board member at a camp near Wrightwood; he led and maintained a puppet ministry for about 15 years; and he has been involved is several church plants in the area as an Elder and Board Member. Along with serving on the LBF Elder Board, Larry schedules and trains the slide technicians for each of the four services (and runs the slides as well). He and Lydia also lead a care group in their home once a week.
